3200 Deposits taken for the
new Bentley Continental GT
Crewe,
24 March 2003... Six months before the first deliveries
will be made, Bentley Motors has already accrued
over 3200 deposits for its new Continental GT.
On the last day of the Geneva Motor Show Bentley
confirmed that the level of interest has increased
since the price of £110,000 (Euros 137,069
excluding tax) was announced on the first day
of the show, March 5th. And despite an uncertain
global economic outlook, interest in the car shows
no sign of abating.
Bentley Motors believes the main reason for this
high demand is that the Continental GT presents
an unrivalled proposition. Capable of carrying
four people in safety to speeds in excess of 190mph,
the 560PS, 6-litre, twin-turbo Continental GT
engine is not just astonishingly fast on paper,
it delivers in reality too. With a capacious cabin,
large boot and all-wheel drive, it is a superb
car for the real world where people have children
and luggage and where road conditions vary widely.
Yet this is just the foundation of the Continental
GT's appeal, it touches not at all on its less
obvious, yet no less compelling qualities such
as the unrivalled skills of the craftsmen and
women at Crewe who work with wood and leather
to create a cabin of inimitable Bentley quality.
The Continental GT marks a new beginning for the
recently reborn Bentley Motors, yet one steeped
firmly in the traditions and inspirations of its
illustrious past. On the evidence so far, it is
a formula that would appear to be working.
